Volunteer With Us

Volunteers are the heart and soul of the Friends. They are the first impression of the Friends to customers and donors. Without our volunteers we couldn’t do what we do to support our Library!

Most volunteers are active in the actual business of selling books, whether that’s at a community/member sale, online sales, or other venues. We have positions to fit everyone standing and sitting! Because they believe in the value of their Library, our volunteers go the extra mile to help the Friends raise money to give back to the Library.

Being a Friends volunteer is a great way to meet fellow book lovers while contributing to your community.

For everyone’s safety volunteers are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

What do Volunteers do?

Most of our volunteers help us prepare books for sale or work at one of our book sales. We have many jobs available including:

Book Processing

  • Sorting donated books (standing job)
  • Scanning donated books for eligibility to be sold online (sitting job)
  • Pricing fiction and non-fiction books (sitting job)
  • Pricing AV materials (standing job)
  • Sorting books for packing (standing job)
  • Packing books (standing job)

Online book sales

  • Listing books for sale online (sitting job)
  • Fulfillment – locating and packaging requested books (standing job)

Book Carts

  • Managing Book Carts – selecting books, stocking carts, and collecting money at your selected Library location.

Book Sales

  • Greeter – welcomes customers (sitting job)
  • Floor – restocks areas during sales (standing job)
  • Reader – prepares tally of customer’s purchases for the cashier (sitting job)
  • Cashier– accept payment (primarily standing)
  • Exit – thanks customers for coming and offers bookmarks (sitting)

Other opportunities: If you have special skills in information technology, financial analysis, facilities management, or marketing, we can use your expertise. Just let us know!
