The Friends of the Pima County Public Library celebrate and promote a literate community by supporting and funding enhanced library programs and services provided by the Pima County Public Library system.

Our Mission is to:

Support the Library and promote literacy
Raise funds to enhance library services and programs
Encourage community involvement
Promote love of reading/love of learning
Re-circulate materials in an environmentally responsible way

Our History

The Friends was founded 50 years ago in 1968 by ten dedicated Library supporters with a goal of supporting and contributing to the Library in Tucson.

The Friends have grown to over 1200 members today contributing $240,000 to the Library annually ($4 million since 1999) to support Library programs and services, promote literacy, learning, and community involvement for young and old alike through programs such as:

Summer Reading Programs
Southwest Literature Project
Nuestras Raices
Individual Branch Activities

GED and Computer Classes
GLBT author events
First Grade Library Cards
Teen Programs

The Friends of the Pima County Public Library is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit incorporated in Arizona. Our Board of Directors are committed to contributing to Library programs and services through our book sales and other fundraising activities.
